8.21.25 Zygote Press: Burning a Screen

I recently became a member of a local printmaking studio, Zygote Press. This community print shop offers workshops and instruction in various printmaking mediums. I have been wanting to formally learn how to burn a screen for a long while and researched obtaining the supplies on my own which I determined was a daunting and expensive task. Previously I resorted to leaning the drawing fluid method of screwing printing in which you draw your design with a fluid. Then you apply a screen filler that the fluid resists the filler and washes out to the screen, thus preserving your design.

Making screens with the drawing fluid method was limiting so I was excited to receive instruction at a properly equipped studio to learn how to burn screens.

I used the drawing from my first design to lean the process. I have plans for more unique designs once I get the feel for the process.

I’m excited to print this design on Thursday!

Thanks for being along for the ride!
