June was a whirlwind of energies. It blasted through me and I’m still trying to catch up. I’m processing all that happened, both bitter and sweet.
I can’t say that I am not grateful for my blessings, I am very fortunate to have wonderful people in my life. After so many years of searching I have found my tribe. I am now collaborating with talented and passionate musicians, sharing our music with our community. Soon we will be releasing music beyond our local pond into the oceans of worldwide streaming.
As you know I am juggling many things to make this happen. I work full time as a veterinary assistant and my job is quite intense. I am also playing solo and full band gigs.
Amongst stage difficulties presented to me in June, I had to make a big decision that was not on my list. I have been renting a space in a local artists studio since January. I was very excited to join this artist community and use the space for guitar practice and my visual art.
In the winter there was no heat in the building and I bought space heaters and fashioned a roof for my cubicle to make it tolerable. Once the spring rain arrived it poured through the roof, luckily my space was not affected though new leaks were appearing. There were other issues I was disregarding as I really wanted to make it work. I was promised air conditioning in the summer. As the heat of June commenced the air conditioning did not. The ground floor of the building which is occupied by local businesses was cool though as you ascended the stairs you felt the inflection point where the temperature shifted to sweltering.
I had to come to terms with my situation. The space I was renting was uninhabitable. After discussing my concerns with the facilitators I was given the option to move out. I was alone in my stance as other tenants were willing to put up with the conditions for the sake of the community. I was in need of a daily work space that was not just for show. I have since moved my supplies home. Everything is crammed in the garage in the July heat.
It was not a convenient time to make this move as I am in the thick of creating the artwork for my album and still recording. I have a session to prepare for tomorrow. Although I am still fortunate to have a home to move my studio to. These days I count my blessings as I did not have these luxuries in previous years.
I’m planning on arranging my space this weekend. I was really wanting to just rest and play guitar. I have to take advantage of having a three day weekend off of work. For some reason I feel I can catch up on life in just three days! I have delusions of grandeur!
