Here is my second video cover I filmed for the Shattering Glass Competition. I chose Age of Innocence. Ever since I first heard this track closing MACHINA I, I felt it breathe a sense of freedom and transformation.
I connected with the lyrics ‘resigned to scraping paint, from our bones unashamed.’ Throughout our lifetime we step through many transformations. It speaks of hope through apologetic authenticity, yet it is torn between conformity and freedom.
The line ‘as you might have guessed, we won’t make it home,’ pulls out all the stops and throws all of the cards on the table. Be yourself, cut your own path, and don’t look back.
The outcome of this competition has yet to be announced. Even though I have a horse in the race, I know MACHINA is special to so many people and I am just glad someone will receive the honor of performing at the 25th anniversary show!
This was a fun devotion from my recording and gigging grind. Maybe it is what I needed to resume work on the album with a heightened perspective.
Speaking of the grind, I’m back to it! I’m preparing for another recording session and an acoustic gig.
Thanks for being along for the ride!
An album update is coming soon!
